Tabla is an instrument made of two drums together. This instrument was invented 300 years ago by using the bols of pkahawaj.Tabla instrument has two drums, left hand drum and right hand drum. In our language we call it as dagga and tabla. The instrument in a pair is called as tabla. But for the left handed tabla players the dagga comes on their right hand and tabla comes on their left hand. Tabla is made of wood and the types of wood used for making the tabla are shesham, khair, junglee, babool and bija saag. Dagga is made up of metal and the metals used for making the dagga are steel, brass, copper. On the face of both the dagga and the tabla the skin which is tied up is called as the pudi which is made up of goat skin and the corner part on both the dagga and the tabla is a thick layered skin which called as kinar.

The straps which keep both the tabla and the dagga tightened is called as the vadi which is made of buffalo skin. In between of both the tabla and dagga we get to see a black spot which is called as the shyahi which is made up with the mixture of coal an iron powder which keeps the sound of the dagga and tabla in proper control. After the kinar comes the outer part of the tabla and the dagga which is called as the gajra as it helps in accommodating the vadi. We get two separate round shape covers to tie the tabla and dagga so that when we are not playing it the instrument remains clean and protected, and two round shape rings on which we keep our dagga and tabla so that while playing the tabla we get a proper grip and a hammer is given together to tune the tabla. Some of the tablas which have nuts-bolts instead of the skin layered vadi, for them there is a spanner through which the tabla can be tuned.
